WHY I START WITH PEOPLE, NOT DESTINATIONS
“I don’t start with the destination. I start with the people and the purpose of the journey.”
That sentence sums up how I work as the Founder and Experience Curator of Letsgolucia.
A destination can be beautiful, a hotel can be excellent and a restaurant can be memorable. But none of these choices creates the right journey on its own. A meaningful experience begins by understanding who is travelling, why the journey matters and how people want to feel while they are there.
Before suggesting places, I listen. I want to know the interests, expectations, pace and priorities of each traveler or group. Is this a first visit or a return to a place that already carries memories? Is the purpose to celebrate, reconnect, learn, reward a team or simply experience Europe differently? What should never be missing, and what should be avoided?
The answers guide every decision that follows.
CURATION IS MORE THAN SELECTING PLACES
Experience curation is not about collecting popular attractions and placing them in a schedule. It is the work of connecting people, places, stories and services so that every element belongs to the same journey.
Sometimes the best choice is an iconic landmark. At other times, it is a small producer, a private workshop, a conversation with someone who knows the territory or a meal that reveals the identity of a region. The important thing is not whether an experience is famous. It is whether it makes sense for the people who will live it.
This is also why two journeys through the same destination should never be exactly alike. The route, rhythm, accommodation, transportation, meals and experiences need to reflect the travelers—not a standard formula.
FROM AN IDEA TO A JOURNEY THAT FLOWS
Good curation must also work in practice. Inspiration is only the beginning. Behind every seamless experience there is research, local knowledge, trusted relationships, careful coordination and attention to logistics.
Letsgolucia brings these elements together from planning to delivery. We consider timing, distances, group profile, accessibility, meals, transportation and the balance between planned experiences and time to simply enjoy the destination.
For private travelers, this may mean creating a journey around personal interests and a comfortable pace. For groups, it means respecting the shared purpose without losing sight of individual needs. For companies, travel can become a way to strengthen relationships, recognize people and create new perspectives. For travel agencies, Letsgolucia acts as a trusted destination partner, helping transform a client brief into a carefully delivered European program.
LOCAL KNOWLEDGE, HUMAN CONNECTION
Based in Portugal, I combine Brazilian warmth with Portuguese hospitality and trusted relationships across Southern and Western Europe.
Local knowledge allows us to go beyond what appears in a conventional search. Human connection helps us select experiences with authenticity and care. The goal is not to fill every hour. It is to create the right rhythm and make space for the moments that travelers will remember.
Sometimes those memories come from a spectacular landscape. Sometimes they come from a conversation, a shared table, a workshop, a road between two places or an unexpected detail that could never have been created by an automated itinerary.
THE PURPOSE COMES FIRST
A journey designed around people has coherence. The choices are not random, and the traveler understands why each experience is part of the story.
That is the difference between simply visiting a destination and truly experiencing it.
So, when someone asks me where we should begin, my answer remains the same: not with a list of places, but with a conversation.
Tell me who is travelling, what brings you together and what you hope to take home beyond photographs. From there, Letsgolucia can transform the idea into a thoughtfully curated journey—personal, meaningful and carefully managed in every detail.
